Police investigate assault on sex trade worker, seek suspect

The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

Hamilton police are looking for a man in his 40s who they say sexually assaulted a sex trade worker early Sunday.

Police say the sex trade worker, a woman, approached a man on Barton Street East near Milton Avenue between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., and the two walked to a nearby location. That is where police say the woman was physically and sexually assaulted. The woman managed to walk back to Barton Street near Birch Avenue and flag down two officers passing by, police said in a press release.

Police describe the suspect as a white man with short blond or brown hair who was wearing a grey button-up shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Carolyne Rashford of the sexual assault unit at 905-540-5543 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
