STAIOS GETS CALL FROM HOCKEY CANADA

Steve Staios has a new gig with Hockey Canada. The Hamil­ton Bull­dogs pres­i­dent and gen­eral man­ager has been tapped to over­see and sup­port the na­tional un­der-17 pro­gram, in­clud­ing this year’s World Un­der-17 Chal­lenge in Daw­son Creek and Fort St. John, B.C. He is ex­pected to work with Hockey Canada staff to se­lect coaches and play­ers, sup­port hockey op­er­a­tions and pro­vide in­put dur­ing camps and events through­out the year — all on top of his work with the Bull­dogs. A for­mer NHLer, Staios has pre­vi­ous na­tional-level ex­pe­ri­ence. In ad­di­tion to play­ing for Team Canada, he served as di­rec­tor of player per­son­nel for the 2014 IIHF World Cham­pi­onship squad.
