Child taken to hospi­tal af­ter be­ing struck by ve­hi­cle in Wa­ter­down

A child struck by a ve­hi­cle in Wa­ter­down was sent to Joseph Brant hospi­tal in Burling­ton.

Hamil­ton po­lice, paramedics and fire­fight­ers re­sponded to the scene at Evans Road and High­way 5 around 6:45 p.m. Tues­day.

The fire de­part­ment ini­tally re­ported the col­li­sion as a “vi­tal signs ab­sent” call on its Twit­ter feed.

De­part­ment spokesper­son Clau­dio Mostacci later said he couldn’t comment on the pa­tient’s con­di­tion.

A Global videog­ra­pher and free­lance pho­tog­ra­pher were ar­rested at the scene. The Global videog­ra­pher was later re­leased, but as of 8 p.m., the free­lance pho­tog­ra­pher re­mained in cus­tody.

Po­lice didn’t re­spond to calls re­quest­ing de­tails about the col­li­sion or the ar­rests.
