A garden would be a better memorial
RE: Balloons for Jasmine (May 19)
My heart goes out to Jasmin’s family and all those people who knew her. As a parent myself, I cannot imagine a worse tragedy.
Even though it was done by the organizer and participants with good intentions, the balloon release ultimately resulted in probable harm to both animals and the environment, as what goes up must come down. A tree or garden planted in a loved one’s memory is a much longer lasting commemoration and is also a positive for our fragile ecosystem. Respectfully … Jacqui Lamb, Hamilton
