Keith Street ready for Disney close-up

The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

A north-of-Barton neighbourhood has been transformed into a candy-coloured film set that looks like it leapt off the pages of a Dr. Seuss book.

The shoot — which is for a made-for-TV movie called “Wonderful World” that will air on the Disney Channel — is taking place on Keith Street between Cheever Street and Douglas Avenue.

Several houses have been decorated with whimsical, pastel-painted props, including a birdcage, car tires, bicycles, chairs and French horns.

Debbie Spence, who heads up the city’s film, music, and culture office, says the movie is a musical with mostly teenage actors.

Shooting has been underway for several days and will likely wrap up next week, Spence says.

Bicycles and their parts, brass musical instruments, and shovel blades in the form of a windmill contribute to the fantastical transformation.
