Person alleged to be murder suspect hints at turning himself in
WATERLOO REGION — A person claiming to be on-the-run murder suspect Ager Mohsin Hasan has posted a social media message hinting he will turn himself in.
Hasan, 24, is wanted in connection with the murder of Melinda Vasilije, 22, of Kitchener, in April.
The Instagram post appeared on Monday. The message posted alongside a photo reads: I’m coming home. It’s time to end the dark path I’ve been travelling and give people the closure they deserve.”
Hasan, of Hamilton, faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with Vasilije’s death. She was found stabbed in her Country Hill Drive apartment in the early morning hours of April 28.
Waterloo Regional Police say Hasan has been on the run south of the border since. He was seen in Tennessee in May and police who have been in contact with him via email. U.S. police are also helping using social media there.
A messaged posted on Facebook Tuesday by a woman who appears to be Vasilije’s mother read: “I’m in so much pain that doesn’t go away. I hope he turns himself in.”
A Facebook page called Justice for Melinda frequently shares pleas to the public to share information about Hasan.
Police ask anyone who is in contact with Hasan to encourage him to turn himself in to police in the U.S. Anyone with information is asked to call local police at 519-6537700, ext. 8666.
