Per­son al­leged to be mur­der sus­pect hints at turn­ing him­self in

WATER­LOO RE­GION — A per­son claim­ing to be on-the-run mur­der sus­pect Ager Mohsin Hasan has posted a so­cial me­dia mes­sage hint­ing he will turn him­self in.

Hasan, 24, is wanted in con­nec­tion with the mur­der of Melinda Vasil­ije, 22, of Kitch­ener, in April.

The In­sta­gram post ap­peared on Mon­day. The mes­sage posted along­side a photo reads: I’m com­ing home. It’s time to end the dark path I’ve been trav­el­ling and give peo­ple the clo­sure they de­serve.”

Hasan, of Hamil­ton, faces a sec­ond-de­gree mur­der charge in con­nec­tion with Vasil­ije’s death. She was found stabbed in her Coun­try Hill Drive apart­ment in the early morn­ing hours of April 28.

Water­loo Re­gional Po­lice say Hasan has been on the run south of the bor­der since. He was seen in Ten­nessee in May and po­lice who have been in con­tact with him via email. U.S. po­lice are also help­ing us­ing so­cial me­dia there.

A mes­saged posted on Face­book Tues­day by a wo­man who ap­pears to be Vasil­ije’s mother read: “I’m in so much pain that doesn’t go away. I hope he turns him­self in.”

A Face­book page called Jus­tice for Melinda fre­quently shares pleas to the pub­lic to share in­for­ma­tion about Hasan.

Po­lice ask any­one who is in con­tact with Hasan to en­cour­age him to turn him­self in to po­lice in the U.S. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to call lo­cal po­lice at 519-6537700, ext. 8666.
