Lawyer’s theatre production raises $187,000

The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

A three-day production of Agatha Christie’s “Witness for the Prosecution” by The Hamilton Lawyers’ Club raised $187,000 for charity and local theatre.

The show, which ran at the Dofasco Centre for the Arts on King William Street June 8 to 10, raised $143,000 for the Lawyers’ Legacy for Children fund (part of the Hamilton Community Foundation) and $44,000 for Theatre Aquarius.

Hamilton lawyer Jim Cimba said the money raised exceeded the $103,000 raised during a similar production last year.

“It’s terrific and quite an accomplishment,” he said.

The cheques were presented Tuesday afternoon at the Hamilton Club, where the group also thanked the “big-hearted folks” who helped make the fundraiser show a success.

“It’s mostly due to hard work of the Hamilton bar and the dedication of the staff,” Cimba said of the event.
