Dean Brody, Meghan Patrick among CCMA nom­i­nees

Coun­try favourite Dean Brody and new­comer Meghan Patrick are among the best al­bum nom­i­nees for this year’s Cana­dian Coun­try Mu­sic As­so­ci­a­tion Awards. Bri­tish Columbia’s Brody, who has won 13 CCMA Awards over his ca­reer, is vy­ing for the prize with his sixth al­bum “Beau­ti­ful Freak­show” along­side “Grace & Grit,” the rol­lick­ing de­but from Patrick, a na­tive of Belleville. Other nom­i­nees in the al­bum of the year cat­e­gory are High Val­ley, James Barker Band and Dal­las Smith. Sin­gle of the year nom­i­nees are Smith’s “Au­to­graph,” Brett Kis­sel’s “Cool With That,” James Barker Band’s “Lawn Chair Lazy,” Jess Moskaluke’s “Take Me Home” and Brody for “Time.” Best male artist nom­i­nees are Gord Bam­ford, Chad Brown­lee, Tim Hicks, Kis­sel, Aaron Pritch­ett and Smith. In the best fe­male artist cat­e­gory are singer Alee, Lind­say Ell, Made­line Merlo, Moskaluke and Patrick. The CCMA Awards will take place in Saska­toon on Sept. 10 and will be broad­cast on the CBC.
