Separate school system equals entitlement

The Hamilton Spectator - - OPINION -

RE: It’s time for one school system (July 13)

It is transparently clear that a separate school system (which caters to Roman Catholics) that is publicly funded must be abolished for a multitude of reasons as noted in Mr. Roden’s article.

The misinformation and political manipulation which has persisted for decades to wrongly justify the existence of the separate school system is obviously (well … to most people) reprehensible. Of course, as soon as there is the slightest scent of a political threat to amalgamate the school systems, Sunday’s mass is all about the need to rally as united Roman Catholics to protect the continuance of their discriminatory school system. It is a supreme act of entitlement and unabashed selfishness.

I don’t think Jesus would approve, but I’m sure the Pope does. Oh, and by the way, when Kathleen Wynne loses the next provincial election, she can’t apply for a job with the separate school board because she is gay. Heaven forbid. Don’t worry, I’ll go to confession for my sarcasm and put a little extra in the envelope. Kevin Boyd, Hamilton
