Rec­og­niz­ing Hamil­ton’s ama­teur ath­letes and teams

Nancy Cas­tura and Jos Ned­erveen of Dun­das were awarded the pres­ti­gious Paul and Shel­ley Brown­stein Builder Award for their life­time ded­i­ca­tion to build­ing the sport of vol­ley­ball in Hamil­ton and the prov­ince at the 2017 Nothers On­tario Vol­ley­ball As­so­ci­a­tion OVA­tion Awards Ban­quet held in June in Toronto.

Larissa By­ck­alo of Burling­ton was named the On­tario Vol­ley­ball Fe­male De­vel­op­ment Coach of the Year for her coach­ing ef­forts at both the Moun­tain Vol­ley­ball Club, with Team On­tario and as as­sis­tant coach of the 2017 Canada Games Women’s Team On­tario.

Ad­di­tion­ally, Chris­tine Kalata (16U Black) of Oakville, Jenny Pel­le­grino (16U Ma­roon) of Hamil­ton, and Larissa By­ck­alo (18U) re­ceived the Five-year Recog­ni­tion Award for their on­go­ing con­tri­bu­tions to the vol­ley­ball com­mu­nity.

The an­nual OVA­tion Awards Ban­quet rec­og­nizes coaches, of­fi­cials, ath­letes and vol­un­teers from across On­tario for their ded­i­ca­tion and ef­forts in the sport.
