Boulevard coming for Sydenham Street
A boulevard will be built alongside a new sidewalk on the east side of Sydenham Street this summer as part of ongoing pedestrian safety improvements in the area.
Gary Moore, the City of Hamilton’s director of engineering services, said the existing sidewalk will be removed to help facilitate the boulevard installation and nearby trees will be protected — not removed — during construction. The new boulevard will stretch from Sydenham and Melville Street to Sydenham and Alma Street.
Construction of a bump-out is also planned at Cross and Park streets.
