TAU­RANGA, NEW ZEALAND — Canada’s Ni­cole Ken­dall and Charlotte Or­cutt posted sec­ond-round vic­to­ries Wednes­day at the world ju­nior squash cham­pi­onships.

Ken­dall, from New­mar­ket, de­feated Amer­i­can Laila Sedky, 11-4, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8, at the Devoy Squash & Fit­ness Cen­tre. Or­cutt, from Toronto, beat Fanny Segers of France, 10-12, 11-9, 11-9, 14-12.

Ken­dall will play Egypt’s Rowan Reda Araby in the third round on Thurs­day while Or­cutt will take on Malaysia’s Zoe Foo Yuk Han.

Toronto’s Sala­heldin El­torgman, the lone Cana­dian in the men’s sin­gles draw, dropped an 11-2, 11-6, 11-3 de­ci­sion to Egypt’s Youssef Ibrahim.
