Shortlisted con­cepts avail­able for re­view in Plains Road public art project

— Con­cepts for a public art piece on a Plains Road me­dian near the in­ter­sec­tion at Fran­cis Road will be avail­able for re­view and com­ment un­til early Au­gust at sev­eral lo­ca­tions through­out the area, as well as on­line.

A com­mu­nity jury has se­lected three art pro­pos­als to move for­ward to the short list and be de­vel­oped into pre­lim­i­nary de­sign con­cepts.

Res­i­dents can view the con­cepts on­line at www.burling­ton­pub­li­cart.com (un­til Aug. 14); at Burlington Public Li­brary-Alder­shot branch and Forti­nos on Plains Road (to Aug. 8) or the Alder­shot GO sta­tion (un­til Aug. 9).

The artists shortlisted are Karl Cies­luk, Stu­dio F Mi­nus and Xiao­jing Yan.

The in­for­ma­tion col­lected from res­i­dents will in­form the jury’s fi­nal de­ci­sion.

“En­gag­ing res­i­dents and busi­nesses on public art in their neigh­bour­hood is an im­por­tant step for arts and cul­ture in the city. It’s im­por­tant to in­stall mean­ing­ful art to help beau­tify our streetscapes,” An­gela Pa­parizo, the city’s man­ager of Arts and Cul­ture, said in a re­lease.
