Here’s another waterfall worry

RE: Waterfall safety

The Hamilton Spectator - - OPINION -

Here is another waterfall concern. It’s nice to be popular but there is bad planning in some cases. The up and down bound Wilson Street has bike lanes. There is a small parking lot at Tiffany Falls that was just renovated recently. There are Bruce Trail pedestrian crossings near the Tiffany Falls. So, we have; vehicles, buses, cyclists, walkers, hikers, deer, raccoons, etc. who use that stretch of road. However a lot of the time, the right side of the road leading up to the actual Tiffany Falls parking lot and going further down the hill is full of vehicles parked in the bike lane.

I am always extra cautious on that stretch of road once you cross Montgomery coming down the hill, as I do not want to hit any animals but now there are so many extra challenges.

There are occasions when I rarely get anywhere near the posted 70 km limit as I am too busy watching for all the extra challenges which are turning into an obstacle course on some days. I do try to be aware of the other drivers behind me of course for it makes no sense to cause an accident by my being overcautious.

I am from the area but do not remember that Tiffany Falls parking lot ever being that busy except in the last few years. I have emailed my councillor to see what could be done. S. J. Creer, Hamilton
