Government driving away small business

RE: Feds to stop unfair income sprinkling (July 19)

All the government is doing is driving medical and business professionals out of this country to relocate elsewhere where they are given more incentive to provide their services. How is it that the Trudeau government is targeting so-called “wealthy” small business owners, but then calling for “tax fairness?” First of all, what constitutes a “wealthy” small business owner or entrepreneur? A successful one? One who works tirelessly to generate enough revenue to employ individuals and create jobs? One who works tirelessly to save for retirement because that will be the only source of retirement income for them?

Yes, let’s talk about tax fairness — fairness for those who work around the clock with no benefits, no sick days, no paid holidays, no pensions. Those people are the small business owners and entrepreneurs in this country who have taken a risk to start their own business only to be knocked down. The Liberal government is ruining this country and driving away any and all small business owners who are punished for being successful and have no incentive to stay here. Stefania Iacozza Riley, Hamilton
