Time for a SoBi spin: ‘Everyone Rides’ in east end

The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

The SoBi network got larger Thursday with the official launch of the Everyone Rides initiative and the addition of 12 new SoBi hubs and 75 new bikes in neighbourhoods between Wentworth and Ottawa Streets.

The goal of Everyone Rides is to make Hamilton Bike Share more accessible for all by removing financial barriers with subsidized memberships, as well as offering translation services and riding workshops.

With the addition of the 12 new hubs, there are now 131 SoBi hubs in Hamilton. The 75 new bikes will differ from the existing blue threespeed bikes: they will have a special white paint job and eight speeds.

Everyone Rides is funded by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Losani Family Foundation Fund and the City of Hamilton.

The SoBi bike share system was launched in 2015.
