Juravinski ER staffers are the best

RE: Hospital heroes in Hamilton

Even though I had spent most of my working life in a hospital environment, I had never really paid much attention to what went on in the emergency department (“down there”). I hadn’t needed to — until now. To say I am impressed is a gross understatement.

They are a breed apart. Unsung heroes. They never slow down, go to the bathroom, take lunch or sit down — we watched for five straight hours. They are in perpetual motion, like the Energizer battery bunny, so anyone who tells you doctors are paid too much money has never visited Juravinski ER at 2 a.m. on a Saturday.

I have come away from all of this with enormous respect for the attention to detail that comes from the emergency department docs. Nothing slips by them — absolutely nothing. My records were received and action taken — evident to me the following workday morning. Through all the chaos, they are cool and competent, even finding the time for pleasantries! Where else in this world do you find this today? Nowhere.

Medical care is excellent in Hamilton. Thank you to those emergency room physicians who took care of me.

Ann Lawton-Barry, Hamilton
