Bell asks CRTC to over­turn ad de­ci­sion

Six months be­fore the next Su­per Bowl, Bell Me­dia is re­launch­ing its fight against the CRTC’s de­ci­sion to ban the sub­sti­tu­tion of big-bud­get U.S. com­mer­cials with Cana­dian ones dur­ing the big game. Bell has filed an ap­pli­ca­tion with the CRTC ask­ing it to re­verse a 2015 or­der that gave Cana­di­ans the op­tion to watch Amer­i­can Su­per Bowl ads air­ing on U.S. chan­nels. The de­ci­sion took ef­fect dur­ing this year’s Su­per Bowl in Fe­bru­ary, and it’s one that Bell says was costly.
