The Hamilton Spectator - - LOCAL -

Two Halton municipalities are urging residents to be cautious after receiving reports of individuals posing as municipal employees in attempts to gain access to area homes.

Both the City of Burlington and Town of Milton have issued the words of caution via Twitter regarding people seeking access to residences for supposed gas or water inspections.

In Burlington’s case, the city said it has received reports about fraudulent phone calls to residents by individuals claiming to be from the City of Burlington.

Halton Regional Police also took to social media to advise residents about the situation.

The Town of Milton reports it’s aware of a door-to-door scam where someone posing as a town employee asks to inspect a homeowner’s water or gas pipes.
