Khadr family demonizes themselves

RE: Enough with the anti-Khadr letters (Aug. 1)

The Hamilton Spectator - - OPINION -

It appears that the writer of this letter has not been paying attention. Omar Khadr comes from a family that perpetuates hate. His father was a money man for alQaida, his mother and sister have stated publicly that they hate Canada and the U.S. There is no need for newspapers to demonize Khadr and his family — they have achieved that status under their own power.

At the same time, the Canadian taxpayer, with that $10.5 million award, may be financing terrorism and fuelling the hatred, if there were no strings attached to that award.

Don’t blame the newspapers, they try to (sometimes), present both sides of the story, with of course their own biases taken into account! Susan A. Frandsen, Rockton
