Her­itage plan­ning staff rec­om­mend a for­mal cul­tural her­itage as­sess­ment of Dun­das’ 212-yearold 2 Hatt St. be given a high pri­or­ity and com­pleted by July 1, 2018.

In a pre­lim­i­nary screen­ing re­port go­ing to Hamilton’s Mu­nic­i­pal Her­itage Com­mit­tee on Thurs­day, Oct. 19, staff say the for­mer gen­eral store as­so­ci­ated with Richard Hatt’s nearby mill meets all pro­vin­cial cri­te­ria for phys­i­cal, de­sign and his­tor­i­cal value re­quired to un­der­take a study de­ter­min­ing whether it is wor­thy of of­fi­cial her­itage des­ig­na­tion.
