Residents blasted by alert sirens as part of exercise
Montrealers were blasted Tuesday afternoon as sirens echoed across the city from nine factories. It’s a noisy test of the system which would be used to alert the population in case of a major industrial accident. The sirens were being tested for three minutes at each of the factories. The city says the exercise is to ensure the sirens are operating properly. It is also a chance to check the level of preparedness of all teams involved in emergency measures.
