Firefighters knock down blaze at east-end townhouse unit
Hamilton firefighters have put out a blaze that broke out in an east-end townhouse complex around 1 p.m. Thursday. There was heavy smoke in the basement when firefighters arrived at 33 Lang St. shortly afterward. “The fire’s been knocked down,” fire information officer Claudio Mostacci said around 1:20 p.m. “It’s been contained to one unit.” Paramedics were assessing one of the unit’s occupants, Mostacci said. Lang Street is just northwest of the Red Hill Valley Parkway near Queenston Road. Firefighters remained on scene to ventilate the unit.
