Wakanda-themed event

Avengers su­per­hero Black Pan­ther and his Wakanda home­land is the theme for the sec­ond an­nual Cul­tural Ex­trav­a­ganza hosted by the Afro Cana­dian Caribbean As­so­ci­a­tion. “A Wakanda Af­fair,” fea­tur­ing a din­ner, per­for­mances, auc­tion and dance, will be held June 23 at 745 Bar­ton St. E. A Taste of Africa

Hamil­ton’s Schools of Dreams is host­ing its sixth an­nual flag­ship fundrais­ing event on Fri­day, May 25, at Michelan­gelo con­fer­ence cen­tre. “A Taste of Africa” will fea­ture African cul­ture, mu­sic and cus­toms, and will raise funds in sup­port of school con­struc­tion projects in Ghana, West Africa. Avoid ra­bies ex­po­sure

The City of Hamil­ton is urg­ing res­i­dents to pro­tect them­selves from ra­bies by stay­ing clear of all wild an­i­mals. Hamil­ton has had over 291 re­ports of ra­bid an­i­mals this year. Part of the prob­lem is res­i­dents in­ter­act­ing with rac­coons. All an­i­mal bites, scratches or pos­si­ble ra­bies ex­po­sures should be re­ported at 905-546-2489.
