Jimmy Kimmel hits Hollywood streets with ‘fake news’

The Hamilton Spectator - - A&e -

Jimmy Kimmel hit the streets of Hollywood the day after midterm elections with some “fake news” of his own. The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host pretended Kid Rock won a Michigan Senate seat Tuesday — and people actually believed it. Kimmel sent a correspondent to prank unsuspecting pedestrians during a special “Kid Rock the Vote” edition of Kimmel’s “Lie Witness News,” a segment where he jokingly spreads outlandish news to see if people fall for it. The rock star, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, hinted he might run for Senate last year before ultimately apologizing for the elaborate publicity stunt. People appeared shocked and confused, but didn’t challenge the information. Kid Rock is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump.
