THE BLUES’ RED BERENSON scored not one but two hat tricks in the same game. Berenson netted six goals – all at even strength and four in a nine-minute stretch – in a demolition of the Flyers.

More than five decades later, Berenson still holds a share of the modern-day NHL record. “I can tell you I probably had better games, but I just didn’t have the numbers, the statistics, the goals, to show for it,” Berenson once said. “You have good games, but sometimes they don’t show up on the scoreboard. That game showed up on the scoreboard.”
