IN THE CARDS
Twenty-five years ago, each NHL team appointed a “celebrity captain” for the league’s 75th anniversary season. Some were even featured on trading cards in the 1991-92 Pro Set Platinum series. Two of the more interesting choices were Karate Kid actor Ralph Macchio and Fred Rogers, who hosted the long-running children’s show Mister
Rogers’ Neighborhood. Interesting side note: Rogers testified in a U.S. Supreme Court case on behalf of VCR manufacturers, advocating the recording of TV shows for later viewing. Remember that next time you pause the game to grab a beer.
