In the CARDS
MIKE ERUZIONE, CAPTAIN OF the 1980 U.S. Olympic team, is best known for scoring the game-winner in the ‘Miracle on Ice’ game against the Soviet Union. The U.S. then beat Finland to win gold two nights later. Eruzione wanted to go out on top, so he retired from the game to focus on a career as a broadcaster. Since he didn’t play in the NHL, no Topps or O-Pee-Chee cards were made of Eruzione. However, a company called Finder Image International released a 99-card set in 1983 called “History’s Greatest Olympians,” which includes Eruzione’s first trading card.
