Lone Hero

Only four times has a first-gamer scored the only goal of the game. But Con­nie Brown is the only one to do so on the road. He scored in a 1-0 Detroit Red Wings win over the Black Hawks in Chicago. Other one-goal he­roes in­clude:

– Bill Cook, who was the lone scorer Nov. 16,

1926, when his goal gave the Rangers a 1-0 home win over the Mon­treal Ma­roons.

– Stan Brown, who scored Jan. 6, 1927, when the Rangers recorded a 1-0 home win against the Cana­di­ens.

– Daniel Corso, who scored the only goal for St. Louis Dec.

5, 2000, a home win against the Mighty Ducks of Ana­heim.
