Fly­ing fields avail­able

Transport Canada’s new reg­u­la­tions for fly­ing drones men­tions that Model Air­craft As­so­ci­a­tion of Canada (MAAC) fly­ing fields are ex­empt from the new reg­u­la­tions.

There are three MAAC-sanc­tioned fly­ing fields in our area.

One is in op­er­a­tion by the Prince Ed­ward Aero­mod­ellers Club on Clarke Road near Pic­ton, The Bay of Quinte Aero­mod­ellers lo­cated on the Stin­son Block Road in Con­secon and the Brighton RC Hawks lo­cated on County Road 64 on the out­skirts of Brighton.

To fly at one of the fields a per­son must first join MAAC then the in­di­vid­ual club. MAAC mem­ber­ship is $90 per year and the lo­cal clubs are ei­ther $40 or $50 per year.
