As­sault in city

Fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion by mem­bers of the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions Di­vi­sion of the Belleville Po­lice Ser­vice, on Oc­to­ber 11, Ni­cole Ri­ley, 32, of Mis­sis­sauga was charged with one count each of Ag­gra­vated As­sault and As­sault with a Weapon. Ri­ley is held for a bail hear­ing on to­day’s date. At ap­prox­i­mately 5:50 a.m., on Oc­to­ber 11, the vic­tim and ac­cused that are known to each other were walk­ing in the area of North Front Street and Bell Boule­vard. A ver­bal ar­gu­ment en­sued and es­ca­lated when the ac­cused stabbed the vic­tim in the up­per chest. The vic­tim was taken to Belleville Gen­eral Hospi­tal with non-life threat­en­ing in­juries. The vic­tim was treated and re­leased. The ac­cused fled the scene but was lo­cated at ap­prox­i­mately 2:45 p.m. on Oc­to­ber 12 in the north end of Belleville.
