Panthers make three trips to podium
Albert College athletes had a busy weekend but it was all worth the dedication and effort to bring home three medals from the Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario Athletic Association ( CISAA).
Last weekend marked the end of the season for U20 girls’ basketball, U20 girls’ field hockey and U16 girls’ basketball, and all three teams finished the season on the podium.
The U20 girls’ basketball team was undefeated during the regular season and placed first in their division.
The final- four tournament was held last Friday in the Albert College gymnasium where the Panthers welcomed Pickering College in semi- final action and advanced to the gold medal game with a 35- 20 victory. In the final game, the Panthers persevered and walked away with the gold medal defeating Toronto Montessori School.
The U20 girls’ field hockey team travelled to the Oshawa Civic Stadium to play in the finalfour tournament on Friday. The Panthers played Ridley College in semi- final action and won 3- 0.
The Panthers went on to play Toronto Montessori School in the gold medal match where they whipped TMS 5- 1 to wrap up an impressive undefeated season.
The Albert College U16 girls’ basketball team finished first in their division and hosted the CISAA final- four tournament in Belleville on Saturday.
In their semi- final game versus Appleby College, the Panthers won 51- 21.
The Panthers moved on to play Country Day School in the final game at Centennial Secondary School.
After a very close game, Country Day School secured the gold medal by a mere 13 points. The Panthers played with determination to the very last minute of the game and are proud of their undefeated regular and playoff season record.

The Albert College Panthers U20 girls field hockey team completed an undefeated season Friday in Oshawa as they dusted Toronto Montessori School 5- 1 in the gold medal game of the Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario Athletic Association championships.
