Queen biopic inspires fashion collection
Denim brand Wrangler honours movie Bohemian Rhapsody with clothing line
Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has inspired a new range of clothing by denim brand Wrangler.
Designers at the American fashion company have created a 12- piece collection that pays homage to not only Queen’s lyrics, but the clothes worn by late frontman Freddie Mercury, who’s portrayed by Rami Malek in the new flick.
“Wrangler has a long history of celebrating music,” Jenni Broyles, vice- president/ general manager of Wrangler Modern Lifestyle, told Billboard. “Since 1947, we’ve partnered with legendary recording artists, supported music festivals and events all around, and for us we view both music and our brand as a connector.
“We’ve been on the likes of George Strait and Garth Brooks, but we’ve also been on the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Lady Gaga. Our brand has stood the test of time, and has been on the backs of music legends throughout the entirety of our seventy- three year history.”
Teaming up with music lifestyle brand Lyric Culture, Wrangler has designed T- shirts, jeans, and jackets, a lot of which are emblazoned with lyrics from some of Queen’s most famous tracks.
A unisex denim jacket features the words Don’t Stop Me Now I’m Having Such A Good Time across the back, while genre- defining song Bohemian Rhapsody has been reimagined on a black T- shirt which has the words Galileo, Galileo Figaro Magnifico and a lightning bolt adorning it.
Other items include a white vest and light wash slim fit jeans, similar to the outfit worn by Mercury when he and the band played Live Aid in 1985 and the Is This The Real Life western snap shirt.
Prices range from $ 51 to $ 210 and the pieces are available to buy via Wrangler’s website now.
