W hen Frida Lacaria went in search of a daycare for her first child back in 1999, nothing satisfied her high standards when it came to nurturing the developmental, intellectual and emotional wellness of children — so she decided to create her own daycare centre. Combining two decades of hands-on business experience with her passion for promoting what she believes are three of the greatest assets a child can possess — independence, self-esteem and confidence — she opened the doors to Children’s Magic Moments in 2003. Eleven years later, Lacaria never tires of watching children evolve into unique individuals as they explore the environment she built. “When we create our programs, I keep in mind everything I’d want my own child to have,” says Lacaria, who recently completed a two-year holistic cooking course. “From our sunny environment and day- to- day activities to the home- cooked meals our resident cook prepares using organic, whole and locally grown foods, we strive to promote healthy growth and development. Each day it gives me great pride and joy to watch the fruit of our labour unfold before my eyes.”
