J ill Anton has been a kindergarten teacher at the Children’s Garden Nursery School (CGNS) for the past 18 years.
The idea of teaching came naturally to Anton from a young age.
“When I was young, I always remember being the ‘teacher’ when we played school and I was usually the one with a younger cousin balanced on my hip,” she says. “I’ve just always loved being around kids.” Today, she is busy running a real classroom of her own that can include anything from French classes to writing stories to hands-on science experiments.
“There’s so much fun, learning, and laughter to cram into a day.”
“I open the classroom door at 8:45am, and before I know it, it’s time for dismissal.”
She says that one of her main motivators in her profession is seeing a student’s face light up as they come to understand a new concept.
“This becomes a positive and rewarding experience for both myself and my students.”
“I am constantly researching for new and innovative ideas for the children in my class — I always want them to
be excited about learning.”
