“It is our goal here at Temple Sinai to help develop the child’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical capabilities to the fullest. We want the children to love school and love learning. And I believe, when the school and families work together, the child then knows that school is a happy and safe place to come and explore,” says Andrea Zecharia, Preschool Director.
The traditional proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” is the guiding principle of Temple Sinai Community Preschool. Zecharia recognizes that for children to thrive it takes the support and encouragement of an entire community. She endeavours to build exemplary partnerships with both the children and their families.
For over 26 years, 19 of those at Temple Sinai, Zecharia has been collaborating with families and laying the foundation of a positive learning environment for young children. “Being able to create and develop the feeling of community here is a goal I strive for every day,” Zecharia says. “We provide ongoing opportunities to develop this connection, and we welcome and encourage parent involvement as we play, learn and grow together.”
