Five ar­rested on drug charges in Happy Val­ley-Goose Bay

Five peo­ple were ar­rested af­ter a Happy Val­ley-goose Bay prop­erty was searched by po­lice last week.

The RCMP’S Street Level Drug Unit and Po­lice Dog Ser­vices Unit searched the prop­erty on Feb. 16 and seized co­caine, mar­i­juana, pre­scrip­tion pills, para­pher­na­lia, a firearm and a large amount of cash.

Po­lice say two men, aged 47 and 43, along with three women, aged 46, 36 and 21, were ar­rested and charged. The five, all lo­cals, are be­ing kept in cus­tody un­til they ap­pear be­fore a judge.

Richard Ross Beaulac, Bar­bara Ann Mercer, Tia Bourque, Rob­bie Clive Fil­lier and Ray­lene Stephanie Hope were all sched­uled for a bail hear­ing in Happy Val­ley-goose Bay Pro­vin­cial Court on Feb. 20, ac­cord­ing to the court’s on­line docket.

Beaulac and Mercer face one count each of fail­ure to com­ply with con­di­tion of an un­der­tak­ing, one count each of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance for traf­fick­ing, and two counts each of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance.

Bourque is charged with one count of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing and one count of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance.

Fil­lier faces one count of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, two counts of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance, and one count of care­lessly us­ing a firearm or am­mu­ni­tion.

Hope is fac­ing one count of care­less use of a firearm, one count of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, and two counts of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled drug or sub­stance.
