Full slate run­ning in Happy Val­ley-Goose Bay election

Three run­ning for mayor, 12 for coun­cil

The nom­i­na­tion date has passed and the names are in for the up­com­ing mu­nic­i­pal election. While most mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties in the prov­ince are hav­ing is­sues find­ing can­di­dates, Happy Val­ley-Goose Bay is buck­ing that trend with 12 peo­ple sub­mit­ting their names for coun­cil po­si­tions and three vy­ing for the ti­tle of mayor.

Run­ning for mayor are cur­rent coun­cil­lor Tony Chubbs, for­mer deputy mayor Ge­orge An­drews and for­mer mayor John Hickey.

For coun­cil four cur­rent coun­cil­lors are run­ning, Bert Pomeroy, Jackie Comp­ton-Hobbs, Wally Anderson and Reg Bow­ers. Also throw­ing their names in the hat are Michelle Baikie, Shawn Crann, Brian Davis, Ru­pert Dawe, Lori Dyson, Scott Hud­son, Wil­bur Patey and Joe Trem­blett.

The election will take place on Tues­day, Sept. 26 be­tween the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The polling sta­tions will be lo­cated at the fol­low­ing places:

Polling Sta­tion # 1 - Royal Cana­dian Le­gion

Polling Sta­tion # 2 - North­ern Cross Church

Polling Sta­tion # 3 - GBAC Of­fice, Spruce Lodge 104 Travis Street

The ad­vance poll will be held on Thurs­day, Sept. 14 at the town hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
