Standup comedians performing in Bethany on Father’s Day
Denis Grignon, Steve Levine at South Pond Farms
South Pond Farms, a new special events venue located in Bethany, is swinging open its barn doors to host an evening of dinner and professional standup comedy.
"Meat and Mirth For Dad" takes place Sunday, June 16 (Father's Day) at 7 p.m. and will feature two of comedians who played to a near-sell out audience in Peterborough's Showplace Theatre in April.
Steve Levine and Denis Grignon will each perform 45- minute sets with a short intermission.
Organizers said the show is not exclusive to fathers - or men - but the comedians did admit the theme allows them to explore the topic more heavily.
"But both my wife and sons are planning on being there, so I have to be wary of how much I can say," joked Grignon.
South Pond Farms includes a "pristine 100- acre property and a restored 120-year-old barn."
"This is exactly the type of show we were looking for; the kind that really suits our venue and our audience," said owner Danielle French. "We've been wanting to expand what we offer."
The farm recently underwent a substantial renovation to current building codes, adding wheelchair accessible washrooms and an outdoor oven stove.
Organizers said "its combination of down home charm and high end amenities are what attracted producers of the show." Tickets for the show are $40. The dinner will feature steak, baked potatoes, asparagus, flat breads and strawberry shortbread.
Reservations are required and can be made by going to www.southpondfarms.ca or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Price is $40 per person.
