Cyclists need training

The London Free Press - - COMMENT -

While city cycling advocates are calling for the city to do more to provide safety and better infrastructure, it behooves cyclists to provide their own level of prevention.

A recent Free Press poll suggests given the opportunity, one third of respondents would ride their bicycles to work. With that many Londoners pedaling their bikes, there should be an enhanced training program for each cyclist. While drivers of vehicles have a multitude of prerequisites, all cyclists should be able to pass the basics.

Let’s not leave it up to the other guy to protect your life. Each of us has a responsibility to defend our own. Whether in a car, or on a bicycle, drive carefully. We can all do better at defensive driving.
