211 Re­gional Ser­vice Of­fi­cial Launch – Yel­low­head County Coun­cil for­mally launched the re­gional 2-1-1 ser­vices for Yel­low­head County, Ed­son and Hin­ton. The new 211 pro­vides lo­cal in­for­ma­tion on gov­ern­ment and com­mu­nity based health and so­cial ser­vices.

North­ern Rock­ies Mu­seum of Her­itage and Cul­ture– Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Hin­ton His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety gave a pre­sen­ta­tion on the or­ga­ni­za­tion and de­vel­op­ments planned open­ing date for the new mu­seum lo­cated in Hin­ton.

Flags of Re­mem­brance – A rep­re­sen­ta­tive from the Flags of Re­mem­brance and Vet­er­ans’ Voices of Canada pre­sented Mayor Soroka with a Cana­dian flag and Hero Plaque fol­low­ing an over­view of what the or­ga­ni­za­tion rep­re­sents and why it was started. The flags are placed along ma­jor through­ways in var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ties to re­mind passersby and lo­cals of de­parted vet­er­ans that served in the Cana­dian Mil­i­tary start­ing from the Boar War through to the Afghanistan war.

Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Strate­gic Plan – Coun­cil awarded the con­tract for the Ed­son and Area Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Strate­gic Plan to West­ern Man­age­ment Con­sul­tants in the amount of $99,633. This is a joint project be­tween the County and Ed­son and will be com­pleted in 2017. The plan will be used to guide short and long term in­vest­ment in fa­cil­i­ties, in­fra­struc­ture, and com­mu­nity ser­vices pro­gram­ming.

Taxes & Ac­counts Re­ceiv­able Write Offs – Coun­cil ap­proved the write off of $13,210.10 in 2016 for the fol­low­ing tax ac­counts: tax roll 031669 $1,875.97 and 16 tax rolls in the name of Al­berta So­cial Hous­ing Cor­po­ra­tion in the to­tal amount of $11,334.13. Coun­cil also ap­proved the 2016 write-off of ac­counts re­ceiv­able for $3,173.52 in the name of AJ’s Oil­field Ser­vices.

2017 In­terim Bud­get – Coun­cil adopted the 2017 In­terim Bud­get, as pre­sented, in the to­tal amount of $147,679,869, to be ef­fec­tive Jan­uary 1, 2017.

Site Pur­chase Re­quest – Coun­cil of­fered Lot 32, Block 1, Plan 062-7780 to West­land Mod­u­lar Homes Ltd. for the ask­ing price of $65,000.00 based on their re­quest to pur­chase a Mul­tiFam­ily Site in Evans­burg.

Road Al­lowance Lease Re­newal – Coun­cil au­tho­rized Ad­min­is­tra­tion to en­ter into a new lease agree­ment with the Town of Ed­son for the closed road al­lowance on the west side of the NW 10-53-17-W5M.

Teck Coal Lease Re­newal – Coun­cil ap­proved a five-year lease for Pt. SE 8-47-23-W5M to Teck Coal Lim­ited at a rate of $2,160.00 per year and a five-year lease for Pt. NW 5-47-23W5M to Teck Coal Lim­ited at a rate of $1,276.00 per year.

Hwy 748 Mo­tor Ve­hi­cle In­ci­dent –Yel­low­head County Coun­cil is re­quest­ing a for­mal in­quiry into how emer­gency ser­vices were con­tacted, de­ployed, as well as the re­sponse they re­ceived by those al­ready on scene at the re­cent Hwy 748 crash. YC Coun­cil is con­cerned that the 911 re­sponse cen­tre was cir­cum­vented and was the cause for a de­layed re­sponse by the ap­pro­pri­ate emer­gency ser­vices.

The next Coun­cil Meet­ings are Jan­uary 10 & 24, 2017. The next Com­mit­tee of the Whole Coun­cil Meet­ing is De­cem­ber 20, 2016. All meet­ings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Coun­cil Cham­bers.
