Canada Sum­mer jobs 2017

Jim Eglin­ski, Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Yel­low­head, is invit­ing lo­cal em­ploy­ers to ap­ply for fund­ing through Canada Sum­mer Jobs (CSJ) 2017 to help cre­ate jobs for stu­dents next sum­mer. Bud­get 2016 added $113 mil­lion per year for three years to the ex­ist­ing CSJ base fund­ing of $107.5 mil­lion, dou­bling the num­ber of stu­dents em­ployed each year.

The Canada Sum­mer Jobs ini­tia­tive pro­vides fund­ing to not-for­profit, public-sec­tor and small pri­vate-sec­tor em­ploy­ers with 50 or fewer em­ploy­ees. It cre­ates sum­mer job op­por­tu­ni­ties for young peo­ple 15 to 30 years of age who are full-time stu­dents in­tend­ing to re­turn to their stud­ies in the next school year.

“As in pre­vi­ous years, we are fo­cus­ing on lo­cal pri­or­i­ties in the Yel­low­head rid­ing. This pro­gram will help pro­vide ex­pe­ri­ence and skillsets to stu­dents to­day so they can qual­ify for the rel­e­vant jobs in the fu­ture,” said MP Eglin­ski.

The ap­pli­ca­tion pe­riod for Canada Sum­mer Jobs 2017 will take place ear­lier this year, run­ning from De­cem­ber 5, 2016 to Jan­uary 20, 2017. This will en­sure stu­dents may be hired be­gin­ning in April 2017. El­i­gi­ble em­ploy­ees can ap­ply on­line at: www.ser­vice­ csj or print off an ap­pli­ca­tion form from the web­site. Ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able at any Ser­vice Canada Cen­tre.
