Ed­son RCMP re­cover stolen ve­hi­cle from Ed­mon­ton

Ed­son, Al­berta – On De­cem­ber 10, 2016 Ed­son GIS (Gen­eral In­ves­ti­ga­tions Sec­tion) was on pa­trol in the Town of Ed­son when they noted a sus­pi­cious ve­hi­cle at a lo­cal fast food res­tau­rant. Of­fi­cers ob­tained the li­cence plate at which time they were in­formed the ve­hi­cle was stolen out of Ed­mon­ton, Al­berta.

The ve­hi­cle, a 2012 Nis­san NV Van, was tracked to an­other lo­cal busi­ness where Of­fi­cers from Ed­son GIS and GD (Gen­eral Duty) con­fronted the sole oc­cu­pant of the ve­hi­cle. Jo­lene Moyan, 40, of Ni­ton Junc­tion, Al­berta was taken in to cus­tody and has been charged with one count of pos­ses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime over $5,000. She has been re­manded in to cus­tody to ap­pear in Ed­son Pro­vin­cial Court on De­cem­ber 14, 2016.

Theft of and from ve­hi­cles con­tin­ues to take place in the Ed­son area. RCMP want to re­mind ve­hi­cle own­ers to en­sure their ve­hi­cles are locked at all times, and not left with the keys in­side at any time, es­pe­cially when idling in th­ese cold win­ter months. Anti-theft de­vices such as a ve­hi­cle im­mo­bi­lizer, steer­ing wheel lock, or car alarm can pro­vide visual, phys­i­cal and au­di­ble de­ter­rents to would be thieves. Own­ers can even save on in­sur­ance with some com­pa­nies who of­fer dis­counts for ve­hi­cles with anti-theft de­vices.
