Jasper RCMP investigate Arson
On December 12, 2016 Jasper RCMP, Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade and Jasper EMS were dispatched to Cavell Apartments for a structure fire. Upon arrival of first responders, the fire had already caused significant damage to the apartment. Firefighters were able to quickly contain and put the fire out. In the meantime, police had located and taken in custody a male they believed had started the fire.
Further investigation revealed that the male suspect police had arrested had recklessly used a propane torch inside the apartment and had wrapped it in a jacket before throwing it inside a fridge.
As a result of this investigation, Tyler Colin GENAILLE, age 27, has been charged under the Criminal Code with one count of arson causing property damage and one count of mischief over $5000. GENAILLE did not speak to bail and has been remanded in custody. He is set to appear at the Jasper Provincial Court on December 22nd, 2016.
