Edson RCMP investigate damage to Vision Park
RCMP in Edson are investigating after vehicles were located causing damage to the Town of Edson Vision Park.
On September 21, 2017 RCMP were alerted by Town of Edson employees to multiple vehicles that were located stunting in Vision Park. The vehicles were found to be doing donuts on the grassy areas of the park, leaving a wake of damage to the turf. Those vehicles left after being discovered, and are believed to have been tracked to a local school, at which time police attended to investigate.
As a result of the investigation, two youth have been arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. One of the youth faces an additional charge of breaching an undertaking. The cost of the damage has yet to be determined, but is believed to be under $5,000.
Edson Director of Community Services Jim Desautels says the damage may not seem like a lot, but it adds up. “It’s not just the physical damage, but it also pulls staff off of other projects to do the repairs, and causes potential closures to the ball diamonds.”
Edson RCMP believe other persons are involved and are continuing to investigate. Anyone with knowledge of this occurrence is asked to contact Edson RCMP at (780) 723-8800, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or online at http://www. crimestoppers.ab.ca/ edmonton/.
