Post-election, four councils and mayors were introduced to the basics of municipal governance by renowned advisor, consultant, and author, George Cuff—hosted by Yellowhead County.

George Cuff, known for his extensive consulting experience on a variety of municipal governance topics, recently made his way into Yellowhead County. Mr. Cuff, an accomplished speaker, offered his boundless knowledge to the county’s own council and mayor, as well as the councilors and mayors of three other municipalities: Edson, Hinton, and Mayerthorpe.

Mr. Cuff offered both funny and severe anecdotes regarding failures and successes in municipal governance. But chiefly, his focus was on educating experienced and new councilors and mayors alike about professional conduct, the expectations of municipal governance, what constitutes good governance, and what is outside of the roles of councilors and mayors.
