River John Festival Days underway

- RIVER JOHN

The community of River John is officially in festival mode. With the start of the ball tournament Friday night, the community is celebratin­g summer with a wide variety of activities that will include sports, arts and games.

Schedule of events Today

9 a.m. – Dark: Ball Tournament at the Ball Field continued

Noon – Lobster Dinner at the Fire Hall

9 a.m. – Ball Tournament at the ball field continues

10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Lismore Sheep Farm Festival Day; Farmer’s Market, Wagon Rides, Barbecue, Sheep Shearing Demonstrat­ion

11 a.m. – Church Service at the Salem United Church

Noon -- Festival Lunch at the Firehall $5

2 p.m. – Tug of War Weigh-in at the Ball Field, tug of War to follow

4 p.m. – Al Tuck & Thomas McCallum in concert at St. John’s Anglican Church, admission $10

6 p.m. – Children’s Parade & Family Barbecue at the Lion’s Club Playground; Categories: Storybook Characters, Cartoon Characters & the Festival Theme: Winding Roads and Waterways.

7 p.m. – Gospel Sing on the Lion’s Den Veranda
