TRENTON – June Virginia Wylie, 87, of Trenton, passed away Sept. 26, 2016, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Marshall’s Crossing, Pictou County, July 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ann (McGuigan) Marshall.

As a teenager, she operated the elevator and worked in the kitchen of the old Aberdeen Hospital on the west side of New Glasgow.

In 1952, she completed a clerktypis­t course at the Adult Vocational Training Centre in Halifax and in 1981 completed a Personal Care Worker course in New Glasgow. Her employment history includes time in the Steelworks Office in Trenton; Sunset Haven residentia­l care facility, New Glasgow; Land Registrati­on and Informatio­n Office, New Glasgow; Nova Scotia Liquor Commission and briefly with the Trenton Police Department.

In her younger years, she was a Sunday school teacher at First United Church, Trenton and a C.G.I.T. leader. She was a caring person, who expressed concern for others.

She is survived by a son, Donald Wylie, and sister, Marion (John) Kay, of Trenton and several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as sister-in-law, Isabel Badour and brothers-in-law, Harry Wylie and John Kay.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, Donald Wylie, in 1954; sisters: Rose Higgins and Isabel Hayman; brothers: Doug, Lewie, Dawn and Glen Marshall.

Cremation has taken place. As requested by her, there will be no visitation.

A private family burial, officiated by Rev. Caroline Barclay, will take place at a later date. Her ashes will be interred with her late husband in Hillside Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Aberdeen Health Foundation, Pictou County VON or a charity of one’s choice.
