Registration being accepted at West Side Community Centre

-

Tennis registration for the West Side Community Centre is now underway.

Emily Morton-Fraser, with the Town of New Glasgow’s community economic development department, said registration is being accepted at the town hall on Provost Street (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.), while anyone seeking more information can call 755-8363.

“We had slightly over a hundred members last year,” said Morton-Fraser, adding that there was a good cross-section of youth and seniors in 2016.

“We certainly had a lot of juniors playing last year, but we also sold a lot of family memberships.”

She said the courts will not be open for play until early June, in order to allow for some maintenance work.

The WSCC has an eye on teaming up with the physical education programs at local schools to get kids trying the sport.

A tennis mixer for both members and non-members will take place June 14, while the month of June will also see programming offered for the 55 and over age group on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Money matters
