No injuries in Upper Kennetcook house fire

A home has been completely destroyed by fire in Upper Kennetcook, but luckily nobody was hurt and the homeowner’s horses have all been accounted for.

Kennetcook Fire Chief Steve White said the call for the fire came in around 3:56 a.m. on Sept. 10, 2017. White said the structure was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene.

“The owners of the house weren’t home, there was nobody inside,” White said. “It burned down to the basement.”

The house, which was on Miller Road in Upper Kennetcook, is a total loss.

White said the homeowners had horses that were on the property and they have all been accounted for and are currently staying somewhere else.

He added that the cause of the fire is unknown at this point.

Firefighters from Kennetcook, Noel, Nine Mile River, Maitland, Rawdon, Elmsdale, Lantz, Enfield, Gore, HRM Station 40 (Dutch Settlement), and more assisted with the effort, White said.

White said firefighters remained on scene for approximately six hours. Nobody was injured in the blaze.
